Description
This over 460-page hardcover book contains memoirs of Iryna Savytska-Kozak (1925-2014), an activist of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) (after 1954 she belonged to OUN (Abroad), led by Lev Rebet). During the Second World War in Western Ukraine she was head of the Ukrainian Red Cross in the Lviv district and a courier for Roman Shukhevych, the Ukrainian Insurgent Army commander. In 1945 she was awarded a Bronze Cross of Merit by the Ukrainian Insurgent Army. Her memoirs describe life in Western Ukraine during the interwar period, the activities of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists during the Second World War, and the Ukrainian life in the diaspora, especially in postwar West Germany.
