Description
The first collection of documents about commerce and trade in medieval and early modern Ukraine. Most of the documents, which include court cases, contracts, and tariff records, originated in the Volhynian territories between 1550 and 1650 and contain a wealth of information that sheds light on economic and social trends in earlier periods. They constitute a full and often lively account of the daily activities and world-views of the inhabitants.
Printed by Naukova Dumka in Kyiv for the Peter Jacyk Centre for Ukrainian Historical Research at the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies and the Archeographic Commission of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. See Industry and Dnieper River in the Encyclopedia of Ukraine.
