Published by the Peter Jacyk Program for the Study of Modern Ukrainian History and Society at the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies, the scholarly journal Ukraina Moderna is one of the leading historical journals in Ukraine.

The special issue no. 35 (Fall–Winter 2023) is focused on the comparison of various aspects of the current Russian war of aggression against Ukraine to Nazi-instigated World War II. The title of the volume is Друга світова війна і російська аґресія проти України: дилеми (пере)осмислення / World War II and the Russian War against Ukraine: The Dilemmas of (Re)Conceptualization. It contains four scholarly articles, transcripts of two seminars from an international series Historians and the War: Rethinking the Future, and four essays. It also features the first section from an unpublished monograph on the cultural history of Ukraine as well as twelve book reviews.
