Volume 5 of thіs bi-lingual large-format series of historical atlases of ancient Ukrainian towns, this atlas contains reproductions of several maps of the historic town of Belz in western Ukraine, one of the oldest urban settlements in the land of Volhynia, first mentioned in the chronicle The Tale of Bygone Years under the year 1030. In the second half of the 12th century and in the 13th century, Belz served as capital of an amalgamated Belz-Cherven principality. This volume includes maps and a large-format booklet with four analytical essays focusing on historical mentions, archeological evidence, and documentary sources that reveal the urban development of Belz throughout its history.
