Published by the Peter Jacyk Program for the Study of Modern Ukrainian History and Society at the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies, the scholarly journal Ukraina Moderna is one of the leading historical journals in Ukraine.

The main thematic cluster in the special issue no. 36 (2024) includes analytic studies on the instrumentalization of history; memory politics; and the methodological challenges unfolding in the humanities in the context of war and occupation. The title of the volume is Усна історія, історична політика і деколонізація східноевропейських студій / Oral History, Politics of History, and the Decolonization of East European Studies. It contains five scholarly articles, a transcript of one seminar from an international series Historians and the War: Rethinking the Future, and two essays. It also features the second section from an unpublished monograph on the cultural history of Ukraine, eight book reviews, and an analytic study that explores Western interpretative knowledge on Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.
